Valerie Babb was appointed the Andrew Mellon Professor of the Humanities at Emory College in Atlanta. She holds a joint appointment within the departments of African American research and English. She has served on the school on the College of Georgia and Georgetown College. Dr. Babb is the writer of A History of the African American Novel (Cambridge College Press, 2017) and Whiteness Visible: The Meaning of Whiteness in American Literature and Culture (New York College Press, 1998).
