By Peter White NASHVILLE, TN — Last week the Senate Education Committee heard criticism about Governor Bill Lee’s proposal to spend $25.5 million/yr on a voucher program for 5,000 students in low-performing public schools. Lee wants to put $37.4 million into school choice initiatives next year.  Lee wants to add 2,500 students a year and if enrollment expands, state spending would increase to $125 million by 2024.
